The Peak Performance Day on the 8th April was the first time out on the track in the freshly rebuilt dragster.
This was a new learning curve for driver and crew!
We had Bob, Mo and Chris with us, (from GB Racing), to help and advise.
After a chat with Ian Marshall, (the Race Director for the day), he outlined the procedure for obtaining a race license.
A number of observed 60ft launches, a half, and then a full track pass would get the all important signature.
As it turned out, the number of cars present, along with the weather, only allowed us to get up to the half pass.
The full pass would have to wait until the following weekend at The Easter Thunderball.
But, it was still a very successful day.
The car ran perfectly.
Just a few minor adjustments to the engine tune-up being necessary.

Drag racer Nick Good ran his first 8 second pass over the quarter mile during qualifying at the Drachten Internationals in Holland having moved up from Pro-ET to the quicker Super Pro-ET class for the weekend. Despite the hot weather which can slow down high performance drag racing engines, the combination of a very well prepared track and a re-tune of the 7400cc Chevrolet engine helped them achieve their goal of an 8 second run. On the Sunday Nick went as far as the quarter finals during eliminations where he lost out to a quicker Sam Freeman, also from the UK.
Nick is also pleased to announce two new additions to his sponsorship team, NGMotorsport welcome on board Morris Armitage Estate Agents, this is their first involvement in motorsport sponsorship and see the partnership as a great opportunity to promote their business. Also joining the team are Hardwick Road Garage Ltd, suppliers of paint, body panels, tools and equipment to the public and the motor trade. Bob Walker proprietor of HRG Ltd raced dragsters in the 1970’s and 80’s and welcomed the opportunity to become involved in the sport again. After sitting in the cockpit of the Chevrolet powered dragster, Bob remarked how the technology and safety has moved forward since his days in the hot seat.
Sponsorship is an essential part of modern motorsport and Nick would also like to thank the continued local support of Glas-Weld Systems and BGC Motorsport Components. If any other businesses want to promote themselves Nick can be contacted on 01366 502000. Their next race is at the FIA European Championship at Santa Pod on the 7-10th September.
